"You know we used to believe – Glass Household – that we would become like Gods.’"I feel that even the most modest performers feel this way. all his experiences are moving through him and around him-like music. Ray is a much more likable character to me now than he ever was-his 'guts' are uncovered. He is what he is. I see Baba's influence in this chapter and a bardo of sorts-it is very moving to share Ray's 'dropping of the body' which is what I feel he is doing.

Thanks again to you for sharing your devotion. Today I'm finally going back to the Baba Center up the street(they are only open for a few hours each week), return my books to the lending library and take stock of what the last few months of learning. Wonderful work and the characters pain seems to be releasing which a wimp like me appreciates. "“If Gabriel dies, the audience will die too: they’re all connected, united over the Grid, by the art, by the music." I need some more time to assimilate this chapter Now for a bit of 'Gods Good Air',On two wheels maybe one. Thanks Pete How very emotional this week reads.Optimisim remains!I love the first two paragraphs.C'mon wow me wordsmith Blogmates. Did I miss something? Have to look again. >and now re-reading it, that it occurs to me to wonder who fired the shot?. Pete, I really hope this novella goes places. the only thing I can say about this chapter isĪMAZING. You're starting to scare me now, Pete - I don't remember inviting you in through that particular cellar door. :DĪ seemingly random combination of a significant date, and an equally significant year - both of which being tied together in my mind and both of which have had an enormous impact on me. Once again, I'm looking forward to next week. The bit about the faces on the screen made me think of Live 8, with all the names of the people who had signed the list scrolling across, and myself watching The Who's performance over and over, trying to spot my name with the mix of all the other JBs. Wow, this chapter was quite interesting! I really liked it. "Jahveh, Job, Satan dressed as Elvis, Aunt Trilby, Hymie, Myrna, Phil, Dotty, Donnie and Connie, they are all there."Ĭomment Deleted This post has been removed by the author. I'll be in your audience next week as well.īonfire Jones said. I've been reading along with everyone from the beginning. I love it when something that in 'real life' would obsess us so much seems, in a piece of art, unimportant and almost fails to occur to the mind.Įlaine said. I mean, you may go on to explain that, but I don't think it's necessary at all - and that's great! It's only now, some minutes after reading the chapter and commenting, and now re-reading it, that it occurs to me to wonder who fired the shot?. James Casey said.and this is the weird bit. But this story - for some reason - is reading to me as if this whole thing has been one giant, complex dream. The transformation I see is taking place from the earthly to the unknown. Kind of like the music he heard as a boy. I found this chapter to be beautiful and sad. A global audience living through the musician. How many times has members of a crowd felt like the musician's were playing that song right to them. The audience and the music becomes the one. Hope you feel like answering my last question. I guess it's an indication of how well this is all written - especially from a character perspective - that Gabriel's fate matters so much to me. Would have been a good ending, and I'm very curious to know what's to be said in the next one. I was thinking, "Is this it?" but there's one more, isn't there? 23 chapters? You could have ended it here, though it might seem a touch abrupt. I’m confused, frustratingly (though it’s not a major point), as to what Josh’s ‘now’ is at this moment. Interesting concept if it’s the suggestion that one’s own experience of the passage after or during death varies according to one’s own life experiences.

But it was really sad to read well, the moment the bullet was mentioned I felt my heart sink. We didn’t know how many things, and we didn’t know this.

Well we knew from the start something had gone horribly wrong. I find myself really, really glad Ray did come to the concert and seems to have been okay.Īnd what to say about Gabriel. Hasn’t she been obsessed with his ideas, or one of them at least? Seems odd to me that Leila needs clarification on Ray’s identity. ‘ “I believe there is a door,” that guy?’ As we near the end my anticipation and excitment grow greatly.Ĭant wait so I will print and read this chapter now. Thanks Pete! I'm looking forward to reading the penultimate chapter!
